Think Purple, Act Circular
POST-PURPLE aims to transform urban wastewater and organic waste into valuable resources by developing innovative bio-based technologies that produce nutrients, proteins, and microbial biomass, including microalgae and purple bacteria.
POST-PURPLE will enhance the environmental performance of processes that convert organic waste and biomass into valuable products, moving them closer to the ambition of zero waste and zero pollution.
Integrated pollution prevention and control will be advanced within POST-PURPLE to systematically address impacts on soil, water and air quality, as well as noise levels across bio-based systems.

About the Event
The PHOTOREFINERIES CONFERENCE brings together scientists, engineers, and industry experts working on light-driven technologies for sustainable biorefineries.
Initiated within the PURPLEGAIN COST Action CA21146, the event focuses on converting residual streams into high-value products such as microbial protein, hydrogen, carotenoids, and coenzyme Q10 through photo-activated processes.
Following a successful first edition in 2024, the 2026 conference provides a platform to exchange knowledge, explore innovations, and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.
